Edgebaston Sauvignon Blanc 2019
The grapes were picked early in the mornings and kept cold on their journey to the winery where the utmost care was taken in the production process to maintain the wines fresh green character and racy acidity. Green apple, flinty and tropical fruit flavours on the nose flow through onto the palate where crisp, clean acidity is met by a creamy midpalate. A softer and rounder version of Sauvignon Blanc than most modern day examples with more than a nod to the French style of the Loire.

Edgebaston Chardonnay 2019

This is the Thirteenth vintage of Edgebaston Chardonnay. The wine is made from 4 different vineyards. As with previous vintages, the wine shows an elegant minerality with lime-citrus, sourdough and cinnamon flavours. The tight minerality keeps a wonderful acid grip on the palate showing good aging potential. A floral note of wild, white flowers such as frangipani and almond blossom is obvious on the front of the nose and follows through the palate.

Edgebaston Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Produced from three outstanding clones of Cabernet Sauvignon planted as “Mother Blocks” for the South African vineyard industry due to their suitability to the deep red clay soils on Edgebaston. Made to exude absolute purity of varietal character and as such display true Cabernet Sauvignon cassis and blackcurrent flavours. The wine has a fresh, minty herbaceousness backed by mocca vanilla oak. Firm structured tannins and a long finish on the palate show good ageing potential.

Edgebaston David Finlayson GS Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

This Wine is made from one clone of Cabernet Sauvignon planted on Edgebaston. The wine displays Cabernet Sauvignon cassis and blackcurrant fruit on the nose as well as having a fresh minty, herbaceous ness backed by mocha vanilla. A broad midpalate and long lasting flavours of Boysenberry and hints of sweet Mulberry follow through to join with the fresh Vanilla and Nutmeg spice on the finish. Firm structured tannins and a long finish on the palate show great ageing potential.

Edgebaston The Pepper Pot 2018

Made from grown grapes in the Stellenbosch and Paarl regions, this wine is created to show the fresh, fruity and spice driven flavours of these Rhone varietals. The colour is youthful and purple/red. The nose is one of crushed black pepper, dark mulberry and mixed berry coulis. Pure, clean dark red berry flavours flow onto a smooth palate with sufficient structure to warrant enjoyment with food such as Gourmet Pizza with Carpaccio and rocket salad.

A medley of small berry and fruit flavours including blackcurrant, raspberry, strawberry, mulberry and blackberry combine with a hint of anise and vanilla to give a wine that is instantly gratifying in flavour whilst showing good structure and tannin concentration to allow for some maturation. Bottled under screwcap to ensure quality.

Edgebaston The Berry Box White 2019
Today we celebrate nature with this classic, yet contemporary wine blend, comprising four cultivars. Brimming with aromas and flavours of tropical fruits, including litchi, papaya and granadilla. Enjoy with good food and your favourite friends. This wine has been made in a style that will change and develop over time in the bottle. The varieties each lend their own character to the wine. The Semillon starts as a youthful, fresh green leafy flavours that will mature into honeyed, waxy flavours as the wine evolves. The Sauvignon Blanc adds a tropical fruit and green apple flavour with a zesty acidity. Viognier adds Stonefruit flavours that will become more prominent as the wine ages in bottle.

Edgebaston Pinot Noir 2018

A fresh, modern, New World style with a nod to the complexity of Burgundy. This Pinot Noir shows ripe, fresh Raspberry, Strawberry and Vanilla notes on the nose. The palate has a touch of minerality and earthiness layered below the fresh, clean fruit.

David Finlayson Camino Africana Chenin Blanc 2018 Old Vine Single Vineyard

This is a combination of grapes from the second oldest vineyard of Chenin Blanc in South Africa, planted in 1947, and another 56 year old bushvine vineyard. The wine was made with the absolute minimum intervention and to allow the old vines to express the true flavours of the site and variety with as gentle a human touch as possible.

The wine has an unmistakable minerality and the salty, Umami flavour on the palate that can only be found when vines have struggled for decades to make their mark in the soil.  This wine signifies something truly special to me as a winemaker and is part of my journey in life and wine in South Africa, hence the name, Camino Africana, “The African Way”

David Finlayson Camino Africana Cabernet Franc 2017
This wine is made from Cabernet Franc planted on an old seabed in the Helderberg Basin. The soils reminded me very much of the Graves region in Bordeaux, allowing me to spot the potential to make a great wine from these vineyards that are threatened by Urban encroachment.

David Finlayson Camino Africana Pinot Noir Reserve 2018

This wine is made from Pinot Noir, clone 667, planted two decades ago on the Stellenbosch mountain as an experimental block. In my search for special and undiscovered sites and wines, I found the grapes and have followed their path into this fantastic example of what potential there truly exists for Pinot Noir in Stellenbosch when the right clone is fitted into the perfect site and terroir. A wine for maturation and enjoyment when the time is truly ripe for the reward. This wine signifies something truly special to me as a winemaker and is part of my journey in life and wine in South Africa, hence the name, Camino Africana, “The African Way”

Edgebaston Syrah 2017
The aim with this wine has been to make a classic styled Syrah leaning more towards its European heritage.  White pepper, violets, mulberry and smoky vanilla notes on the nose are backed up by a bracing freshness and dry, ripe tannins on the palate.
